Befrienders

At St. James we have commissioned Befrienders, members of the congregation who are trained to listen well and empathize with your situation.

Befrienders offer comfort and support to you during a difficult time in your life.  They are caring Christians who desire to share God’s love with you.  They offer you a healing presence by spending time with your, praying for and with you, or by having regular contact by phone.

A Befriender offers one-to-one confidential companionship to offer emotional and spiritual support based on your needs and preferences.  They share God’s love by being with you during your time of need.  In the name of Jesus, a St. James Befriender is ready to ‘be a friend’ to you.

The Befrienders also sponsor and serve an annual Remembrance Dinner on the first Sunday on November each year. If you are interested in attending or helping out, let us know.

Loss and Remembrance Service,
Sunday, November 6, 2011, 6-8 pm

St. James Befriender Ministry invites anyone who is grieving the loss of a    loved one, or any other kind of loss in your life, to an evening of spiritual nourishment.  The evening begins at 6 pm with dinner served at 6:30.

Peg Weber, R.N. Parish Nurse Coordinator and Grief Counselor at St. Mary’s Hospital, will provide a short inspirational message during a candle-lit service in the church sanctuary.  All ages are invited and you need not be a member to attend.  Pre-registration is requested by Wednesday, October 26th, to help with meal planning, but is not required.
